Background

My name is Alison Thoet.


Alison Thoet is a writer and online reporter for the PBS NewsHour, covering primarily women’s social and political stories. Ms. Thoet has produced over 70 pieces in two years under the guidance of Anchor Judy Woodruff. 

Ms. Thoet has extensive experience as a Production Assistant for numerous high-profile interviews, including interviews with Jennifer Lawrence interviewAva DuVernay, and a two-part package on Ken Burns’ Vietnam War documentary. She was integral in the production of semi-weekly newsroom hits for various anchors and Facebook Live sessions over the last three years.

While at the PBS NewsHour, Ms. Thoet became proficient on DSLR and X200 cameras, shooting third camera and learned to edit and produce pieces on Adobe Premiere.

Ms. Thoet began her career as an intern at The Hill Newspaper covering politics and whip lists, and later on the National Journal’s online team before moving to ABC News in New York City, where she wrote a piece on Malala Yousafzai and a female astronaut’s first trip to space.

She received a B.A. in Journalism and English from the University of Mary Washington in Virginia.
